Eastern Mediterranean,  ca 1st to 3rd Century AD.

Pale blue-green natural glass, free-blown with a long tapering body, a slender cylindrical neck, and a wide flat outward-rolled lip and belongs to the ubiquitous class of small toilet vessels used to hold perfumed oils, cosmetics, and funerary offerings across the Roman Mediterranean and Levant. The exterior carries extensive silvery-white weathering and areas of iridescent patina with earthen encrustation, the classic burial-derived surface that collectors prize as evidence of genuine age.

Size 3-3/4 inches high + custom mount. Intact and in very good condition, a nice example. Provenance: Mr. Sid Hart, Cos Cob, Connecticut, acquired in the 1980s–1990s.
