The Frog has a classic body, cast with large hind flippers and bulbous eyes. From the mouth emanate two side facing saurian heads back to back, conveying a mythological significance.

Size: 2-3/4 inches (6.7cm) Length ; 22k gold tested;  

weight including pin frame: 27.2 dwt. (42.3 gms)

Provenance: Ex Sheldon Collection, Falmouth, Maine acq 1980s.

A similar example is illustrated in the exhibition catalog, Between Continents/ Between Seas; Pre Columbian Art of Costa Rica, fig. 287.  A similar frog is also the Rockefeller Collection at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
