South Italy Ca 4th Century BC  

A decorated bulbous pouring vessel with disc foot and handle from rim to side walls. Decorated in classic red-figure technique with a nude athlete wearing a victorious wreath in hair and holding strigili seated on a rocky outcrop with garment folds underneath him. 

Size 5-5/8 inches (14.3cm) H.  Intact, edge wear.

From the collection of pianist Professor Detlef Kraus (1919-2008), acquired in the 1960s to the early 1970s.
