West Mexico, ca. 200 BCE to 300 CE

Standing male figure modeled in solid buff-colored pottery with characteristic Colima stylization. The figure wears an elaborate multi-pronged horned headdress and a collar or necklace at the throat. The arms extend outward from the body, and the legs are slightly bowed in a standing pose. Incised crossed-band decoration visible on the chest. Surface shows dark manganese-oxide deposits and traces of original orange slip consistent with extended burial.

The horned headdress figures are well-documented in Colima art and appear in major museum collections including the Met, LACMA, and Cleveland Museum of Art. These figures are generally associated with the Comala style phase of Colima ceramic production. The solid (as opposed to hollow) construction and relatively small scale  is typical of shaft tomb offerings, often accompanying larger hollow figures
