New Kingdom, Circa 1500 BC

A corner fragmented with seven lines of carefully rendered script in black in within registration lines.

The inscription is from the first chapter of the Book of the Dead. Reading from left to right: “… make victorious … Re … [open] the door of the mystery … [in Letopo]is. I leave and enter … on the day of celebrating the festivals of Osiris, of the ablutions … I exalt the one who is in …”

Size: 4-1/2 inches L. + plexi-holder included
Condition: Fragmented and torn, as is.
Fine style   Provenance: Ex HW acq 1970s-80s and then by descent to DB, New Paltz NY.
