New Kingdom, Dynasties XVIII–XX, c. 1550 – 1070 BCE.   A vibrant ancient Egyptian glazed faience scarab amulet of the sacred dung beetle Khepri, the god of the rising sun and rebirth, finely modeled in electric turquoise-blue faience with a richly molded base bearing a cryptographic / trigrammatic invocation of Amun-Ra, the supreme state god of New Kingdom Egypt. Pierced longitudinally for stringing as a personal protective amulet.

The dorsal surface displays the canonical anatomy of the kheper beetle — a domed back with crisply incised central elytra suture, schematic clypeus and head plate, and tucked legs along both flanks. The base bears a moulded design framed by an oval cartouche border containing the classic New Kingdom Amun-Ra trigram (cryptogram):

The composition is the classic Ramesside-period amuletic legend: Imn-Rꜥ Nb Mꜣꜥt* — "Amun-Ra, Lord of Truth (Maat)".  The doubled neb baskets flanking the central Amun-comb are a well-attested decorative-symmetrical convention on New Kingdom scarabs, sometimes read as an emphatic doubling ("Lord, Lord") or as part of the longer formula "Imn-Rꜥ nb pt" ("Amun-Ra, Lord of Heaven") or "Imn-Rꜥ nb mꜣꜥt" ("Amun-Ra, Lord of Truth"). The fuller amuletic reading attested on parallel scarabs in the Petrie Museum and the Hornung & Staehelin Basel corpus is:  "Amun-Ra, Lord of Truth"* — a cultic title of the supreme state god of New Kingdom Egypt, invoking divine justice and cosmic order for the wearer's protection.   This trigram-with-flanking-neb-baskets layout appears in: Petrie, Scarabs and Cylinders with Names* (1917), pl. XXXVII–XL (New Kingdom Amun-Ra scarabs)Brilliant turquoise-cobalt blue glaze with darker accumulations in the deeper grooves and slight greenish weathering at the edges

Size 3/4 in L. Intact. Pierced longitudinally for suspension; perforation clear on both ends.

Condition  Intact, with attractive surface bloom and minor old earthen / mineral encrustation in the recesses of the base. No restoration or repainting
