North Coast of Peru, Early Intermediate Period, Moche Phase IV, ca. 500–800 AD 

An impressive stirrup‑spout vessel modeled as an expressive feline head, the rounded face with bulging eyes, upturned snout, and wide grimacing mouth exposing prominent fangs and stylized, star‑shaped incisors. The creature’s large, cupped ears project boldly from the sides of the head, emphasizing its alert, almost mask‑like appearance. The thick stirrup handle rises from the top and curves to a vertical spout, all covered in a warm burnished orange‑brown slip with lighter cream highlights; scattered mineral deposits and surface wear are consistent with ancient age and burial.

Size: 10.75 in H x 6.5 in W x 5.25 in D (27.3 x 16.5 x 13.3 cm).
