West Mexico, Ixtlan del Rio style, ca. 200 BCE to 200 AD.  Wonderfully abstract form with large elephantine legs, tall torso and small head and limbs.  She is bare-chested with rounded breasts and wears a knee-length skirt adorned with intricate white-painted nested step motifs. Her body is richly ornamented - multiple earrings, nose rings, bracelets, an armband, and a collar necklace emphasize her status. Her stylized features - sharply projecting chin and nose, arched brows, wide, intense eyes, and a bared, toothy mouth - are distinctive to this regional style. A twisted fillet headdress wraps her tall head.
