Central America. Ca. 550 to 850 AD. A diminutive vessel  having a relief deity figure on the front with a rattle ball incorporated in his head, large openwork eyes, and a large upturned nose. Wearing a large beaded necklace with a central face pendant. Rim repaired with minor restoration.


Vessels of this type were often used as containers for pigments, resins, or ritual offerings. Provenance: Lands Beyond gallery.
Size: 2-5/8 inches H. 

Provenance:    Private Florida collection. Ex. Barry Kernerman, Toronto, ex. Samuel Dubiner collection, Tel Aviv, Israel, acquired 1960’s.
