 West Mexico,  Protoclassic period, ca. 100 B.C. to A.D. 250

A nice clay figure with a pronounced baby bump standing nude, rendered in a flattened stylized form with truncated arms; her head is adorned with cap-like headband. Ocher surface with some strong mineral deposits and root marks. A nice example.

Size: 9 inches H. + custom base; nose chip else intact.
 
Provenance: Private Mercer Island WA collection by descent from Ruth Goldwyn Capps & Henry McClure Capps (known as Mac) who was an art director and production designer for TV & films in the mid-1950s.
