Stone circa 550 to 900 AD.  The mask is likely carved from jadeite, the form of jade used by the ancient Maya. Jadeite from Guatemala was highly prized in Mesoamerica and used for elite ornaments, masks, and ritual objects. The mask’s drilled holes and wear patterns indicate its original use as a pendant.
Overall 26.2 grams weight.

William Spratling (1900–1967) was a pioneering American designer who revitalized Mexican silver and goldwork in Taxco. In the 1960s, he began using gold in his jewelry, often marking pieces with "WS" and "18k.  Spratling was known for incorporating authentic pre-Columbian artifacts into his jewelry, making each piece unique and historically significant.
The ring exemplifies the fusion of ancient Mesoamerican art with 20th-century Mexican craftsmanship, making it highly sought after by collectors of both pre-Columbian and modernist jewelry.

All pieces are unconditionally guaranteed authentic and as described in perpetuity and have been legally acquired and imported in full accordance with U.S. and applicable foreign regulations regarding the movement and sale of antiquities.
