The gold composition shown in the elemental analysis report (92.5% Au, 3.5% Ag, 4.03% Cu) which is consistent with Roman gold standards from antiquity in several ways:
Roman gold coins and jewelry typically maintained extremely high purity levels, usually exceeding 95% gold content throughout both the Republican and Imperial periods. The analyzed piece's 92.5% gold content falls within the expected range for Roman precious metal work.
The presence of silver (3.5%) and copper (4.03%) as minor components is characteristic of Roman gold metallurgy as well. Romans commonly used these metals in their gold alloys, with copper being added to increase hardness while maintaining the gold's yellow color
