Hellenistic Period, Circa 4th Century BC.

Deep vessel with twin horizontal handles at rim; decorated with a fashionable profile head of a female with saccos (headdress) highlighted in added white on either side. Palmette leaved between handles and wave pattern below rim.

Size: 3-3/4 inches Height x 6-3/4 inches Diam handle to handle.


Provenance: Ex Collection of Howard T. Knapp, a former physicist for the Space Program at NASA, who had a deep passion for antiquities, armor and weaponry and acquired many fascinating objects from the 60s to the 80s during his extensive world traveling. With an impressive collection that included a three thousand-year-old Ancient Greek sword and over five thousand pieces of pottery, later in life Knapp was an antique dealer and director of Castle Armory Antique Arms Museum in St. Augustine, Florida. He died in 2010 at the age of 95.

All pieces are unconditionally guaranteed authentic and as described in perpetuity and have been legally acquired and imported in full accordance with U.S. and applicable foreign regulations regarding the movement and sale of antiquities.
