Carved creamy gray-green jade pectoral, depicting a stylized bat, having a large head in the center with drilled eyes and teeth. Small perked ears, wings spread and having drilled and cut openwork decoration. The wings also represent semiabstract profile serpents wearing a perforated disc ear ornament. Biconical drilled suspension hole on both sides of the bat’s head. Size: 3-3/4”W. x 1-1/4”H. +custom bronze base.  

 

Overall scattered surface deposits. Intact, excellent condition. 

Provenance: Collection of Jimmy Belilty, Miami. Acquired in 1981 from Carlos Poveda.
