New Kingdom 19th Dynasty, circa 1293-1185 BC

A mud brick fresco of figures in procession, depicted is a bent over figure with red skin and white kilt and a hand wearing a bracelet and holding a bouquet of lotus flowers in front. The bouquet may be represented in the shape of the ankh, a symbol that stands for life and as an amulet is shaped like a bouquet. It consists of the Nymphaea flower bud and leaves bound together with mandrake fruits.

Size: 5-5/8 in H. x 5-1/4 in W. + custom mount.  All original pigment with cracks and repairs visible.

Floral bouquets were necessary religious offerings and used as temple decorations as florists created enormous compositions which would have left a very distinct aroma in the air. Also, like today, the ancient Egyptians left flower bouquets as offerings for the deceased.
