Naturalistic carved, smooth wing case; base inscribed with hieroglyph for “protection.” In the top half, the hieroglyph on each side of that element is the ankh, meaning “life.” In the bottom half, the hieroglyph on each side of the protection element is nefer, meaning “perfect” or “beautiful.”

Size 1 Inches (2.54cm) L. Intact excellent condition

Deaccessioned from the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, Richmond, Virginia; originally collection of Lillian Thomas Pratt (1876-1947), Fredericksburg, Virginia; bequeathed to the VMFA in 1947. [Acc. no. 47.20.463]
