Third Intermediate Period, circa 1069-664 B.C.

Handsome carved mask and front upper sections, originally from a sarcophagus. Painted over gesso, with a deep red-brown and blue headdress and wig. Top of head decorated with a multicolor geometric pattern. A scarce type with very nicely rendered facial features.


Size: 14 inches H. + Custom mount + plexi case. Condition: Age wear to gesso and ravaged by time or else all original.

Provenance: Ex HW acq 1990s, by descent to DB, New Paltz NY.
