A press molded glass applique depicting a  a theatrical mask. The features, such as the textured hair and facial structure, align with representations of masks in Roman art, which were often associated with Dionysian themes. This is a Grotesque female mask with straight-haired peruke, parted at middle and with an outturned fringe at sides of face; deep eye holes and large curved mouth cavity.  

Size: 1-3/8 inches H.; 2 inches H on custom mount. Complete but with chipped and weathered edges; minor pitting and iridescent weathering on all surfaces. The appliqué was probably attached to a large glass jug or bottle as decoration below the handle.
