Amar-Suen was the third king of the Third Dynasty of Ur, reigning from ca. 2047 to 2039 BC., in southern Mesopotamia.

The present inscription is the briefest version of Amar-Suen’s bricks, giving his name and epithets. These have been found at a number of sites in southern Mesopotamia: Adab, Bad-Tibira, Eridu, Girsu, Isin, Kisurra, Sippar, Tell el-Lahm, and Ur; at least eighty examples are known.

Translation:
Amar-Suena, whose name was proclaimed by Enlil in Nibru, the steadfast supporter of Enlil's temple, the powerful man, king of Urim, king of the four quarters.
