Circa 2nd to 1st Century BC.

A finely worked oval sheet-gold plaque or appliqué, hammered in repoussé with a central rosette or floral device flanked by two facing birds. The border is framed by a double beaded band, and the plaque is pierced at both ends for attachment, suggesting use as a sewn or fastened ornament, possibly for dress, a diadem, furniture, or ceremonial textile.

The object is made of high-karat gold; the accompanying XRF report records 98.76% gold, 0.85% copper, and 0.39% iron, equivalent to approximately 23.7K gold, with “plating not detected.” The report was prepared by Manhattan Gold & Silver Inc. on December 23, 2024, using an ElvaX spectrometer, with a 9-second measurement duration.

XRF elemental analysis reveals:
Gold (Au): 98.76 ± 0.09%;  Copper (Cu): 0.85 ± 0.04%;  Iron (Fe): 0.39 ± 0.05%
The high gold content (23.7K) and the presence of small amounts of copper and iron is consistent with ancient gold metallurgy practices.
