Persia Late 12th–13th Century AD.
A fritware or stonepaste decorated flared bowl in black under a translucent turquoise glaze with a radiating design of bold strokes and dotted motifs around a plain central tondo, a hallmark of Kashan underglaze wares.
Intact! Fine overall crackle to the glaze, glaze thinning at the lower body, and earthen encrustation to the unglazed base with earthen deposits, consistent with age and burial.
Dimensions: 6¾ in. (17 cm) diameter x 3½ in. (9 cm) high
Provenance: Mr. Sid Hart, Cos Cob, Connecticut, acquired 1980s–1990s
