Late Intermediate Period (c. 1000–1450 CE).
The facial carving displays classic Chancay characteristics; blocky and trapezoidal, framed by a distinct brow line that slopes straight into a wedge-shaped nose. The eyes are carved in a characteristic diamond-to-rhomboid outline with incised pupils, paired with a simple slit mouth. Above the head rise two vertical prongs; one intact and tapering, the other truncated by an ancient loss; which likely represent a stylized headdress, feather uprights, or a functional fork for suspension or wrapping cordage, typical of Chancay wooden tomb and ritual furniture.

The surface shows dry, weathered Central Coast Peruvian hardwood with prominent longitudinal graining, desiccation fissures, stable ancient surface erosion, and traces of earthen burial accretions in the recesses of the facial features. The lower section displays an old fracture where the lower shaft snapped away, indicating it is the upper finial section of either an agricultural or ceremonial digging stick (taclla or chaki taklla), an elite ceremonial staff, or a tomb marker post.
