Northwestern Iran, ca. 1000–600 BC

Cast bronze standing ibex, the long horn sweeping back in a single arc from the crown. Wedge-shaped muzzle, pellet eye, short upturned tail. Front and hind legs each merged into a single flattened support ending in broad foot plates. Probably a votive or grave offering; such figures are found in burials across northern Iran. Green and blue-green patina with encrustation and areas of cuprite.

Size: 2 1/2 inches (6.4 cm) H. x 1 1/2 inches (3.8 cm) L. x 1/2 inch (1.3 cm) W.
