Apulian red‑figure pottery fragment, preserving part of a winged figure, likely Eros or Nike, on a black‑glazed ground. 

South Italian, ornate style, circa 360–320 BCE

On the obverse, a nude winged figure stands facing left; only the left portion of the torso and arm remain, the hand resting on a looping, ribbon‑like attribute at the lower edge. Behind the figure rises a large outspread wing rendered in reserved clay with added white and yellow detailing along the feathers and contour, characteristic of the ornate polychrome style of late 4th‑century Apulian workshops.

The background is a lustrous black glaze with minor surface pitting and small encrusted accretions; the reverse is fully glazed black with wheel‑turning marks visible and no surviving decoration, suggesting the fragment comes from the figured frieze of a medium to large open form, probably a bell‑ or volute‑krater.

Size:  The shard is roughly trapezoidal, measuring about 4‑1/4 inches (10.8 cm) in width by 5‑1/2 inches (14 cm) in height, with all edges anciently broken.
