Athens, late 6th to early 5th century B.C.
A slender cylindrical vessel with ovoid body tapering to a small foot, narrow neck, and flaring mouth, the shoulder decorated with a band of black tongues and dotted ornament.

The principal panel shows Athena advancing right, wearing a long peplos and high‑crested helmet, holding a round shield on her left arm and thrusting forward a spear toward a confronting warrior, who moves left in a dynamic, lunging pose, nude or lightly armed, with spear and shield; above them runs an arched, dotted line suggesting a hanging garland or framing device, with added red details now mostly fugitive. The scene is best understood as Athena engaging a generic heroized opponent in battle, part of the broader repertoire of martial and mythological combats on late Archaic lekythoi rather than a firmly individualized episode.
