 West Mexico,  Protoclassic,  ca. 100 B.C. to A.D. 250.

A burnished redware effigy vessel modeled as a seated hunchbacked dwarf, shown cross‑legged with arms resting on the knees and the markedly arched spine forming a pronounced dorsal hump. The ovoid head rises into a flaring spout and bears a prominent horn‑like cranial projection, a feature associated in Colima sculpture with ritualized or shamanic persona. The “horn” on the head is often interpreted as a "Horn of power" or shamanic crest rather than a literal deformity.   Such hunchback dwarf effigies, frequently recovered from West Mexican shaft‑tomb contexts dating ca. 200 BCE–300 CE, have been interpreted as liminal (transitional) ritual specialists or attendants, perhaps comparable to dwarfs and hunchbacks who served as intermediaries in Mesoamerican courts.
