New Kingdom to the Third Intermediate Period (ca. 1550–712 BCE), though related talismanic types continued into the Late Period.

Carved with an oval base and pierced longitudinally through the center for suspension as a pendant, ring bezel, or bead, the upper body exhibits a rounded clypeus, simple incised lines defining the pronotum and wing cases (elytra), and notched lateral grooves demarcating the legs in profile. The steatite body displays a dark brown-to-blackened aged surface with remnants of its original emerald-green glaze preserved within the incisions and along the lower edges, alongside ambient soil and fiber deposits lodged within the recesses. The incised underside is enclosed by an oval framing border resting on a prominent horizontal neb ($nb$) basket sign along the bottom, meaning "Lord" or "all." Above the base line, the field features a sun disc (Rꜥ / Ra) at the right beside a series of stylized, hatched vertical and horizontal signs. These glyphs most likely represent an apotropaic royal prenomen of Thutmose III (Mn-ḫpr-Rꜥ, Menkheperre), an enduring amuletic formula mass-produced for divine protection long after his reign, or an Amun-Re devotional cryptogram (Jmn-Rꜥ nb, "Amun-Re is Lord")
