ca. 664–332 BCE

This Egyptian bronze statuette depicts Osiris, god of the dead and ruler of the underworld, in his characteristic mummiform pose. He wears the tall atef crown and false divine beard, while his arms are crossed over the chest, traditionally holding the royal crook and flail. The elongated figure and restrained modeling reflect conventions of Late Period devotional bronzes, which were frequently dedicated in temples and shrines. Osiris figures were especially popular as votive offerings during the first millennium BCE.
