New Kingdom, Ramesside Period (19th to early 20th Dynasty, circa 1292–1150 BCE).

The figure stands in mummiform pose, carved from native dense wood (likely tamarisk or sycamore fig), it displays a long, black-painted tripartite wig framing an oval face with prominent carved almond-shaped eyes, cosmetic lines, and a straight nose. Traces of a painted usekh broad collar remain visible across the chest between the lappets. The arms are crossed right over left at the chest, modeled holding agricultural implements characteristic of the period. The lower mummiform body preserves traces of a gesso ground beneath dark pigment delineating horizontal registers and a central vertical column of cursive hieroglyphic text containing the traditional shabti spell (Chapter 6 of the Book of the Dead) naming the deceased. Surface wear, natural age cracking, and gesso loss are consistent with authentic New Kingdom tomb preservation.
Size 8-3/4 inches (22.2 cm) H.
Provenance: Reportedly from the estate of a well traveled sea captain, Reading, Pennsylvania; earlier provenance and dates of acquisition unknown but there are two old collection notations on the reverse, one penned and one label.
