Corinth, Greece, Middle to Late Corinthian Period, circa 600–575 B.C.

A finely potted terracotta aryballos (perfumed-oil flask) of characteristic globular, piriform body rising to a short cylindrical neck, a single vertical strap handle, and a broad flat discus mouth. The buff ground is decorated in the Corinthian black-figure technique with a swan as the principal motif, its body rendered in lustrous black slip with added purple-red and fine incised detailing defining the wing and plumage. The field is densely filled with incised dot-rosettes in the animal-frieze manner. Radiating tongue-and-ray patterns encircle the shoulder, with bands at the neck and a rayed rosette on the mouth disk edged with dots, canonical Corinthian ornament of the period
Size: 3-3/8 inches (8.5 cm) in height + custom base. 

Condition: intact, including the handle and mouth, with surface wear and minor slip loss consistent with age and use, making it an attractive and displayable example.
