ca. 1st Century BC to 2nd Century AD

Cast bronze button-and-loop fastener, the head modelled as a miniature bearded face. Ribbed fringe of hair, eyes in raised concentric rings with drilled pupils, beard in horizontal bands. Flat reverse with integral shank ending in a pierced lug. The shank passed through a slit in a garment or harness strap, secured by a thong through the lug. Dark patina, bronze showing at the rim and shank.

Size: 1/2 inch (1.3 cm) H. x 1/2 inch (1.3 cm) W. x 1/2 inch (1.3 cm) D.
