Northwestern Iran or Caucasus, ca. 1000–600 BC

Cast bronze pin, the head forking into two arms, each ending in a ram's head with arched horn and downturned muzzle. The arms are decorated with raised spirals centred on pellets. A small suspension loop sits at the fork, above a stylised human face. Ribbed shaft with a pierced lozenge-shaped slot. Worn as a cloak pin; long pins like this were buried with their owners. .Dark and green patina.
Size: 9 inches (22.9 cm) L. x 3 1/4 inches (8.3 cm) W. x 1/4 inch (0.6 cm) D. + mounted on a wooden base.
