West central Mexico, Guanajuato–Michoacán border region, Lerma River basin, Late Preclassic / Late Formative Period, ca. 550–100 BC. 

Hand-modeled buff-orange earthenware, standing with arms emerging to the sides, wearing a tall flaring "fan" headdress (crown) above a hairline of fine vertical combed striations, with large circular applied earspools, applied "coffee-bean" eyes and mouth, small pinched clay fillets applied and pierced, a beaded necklace, applied breasts, a pierced navel, and tapering columnar legs without separately-articulated feet. Overall strong mineral/burial accretions to the surface; traces of original cream-to-red slip and possibly white negative pigment preserved in recessed areas.

Size: 4¼ in. (10.8 cm) H. plus custom mount. Ink-inscribed on the back of the right leg in black ink: "FF.26" — a collection inventory number of Albert J. and Monique Grant, New York City, acquired 1950s–60s.
