Chupícuaro tradition of the Lake Cuitzeo basin, Michoacán (Late Preclassic / Formative period, ca. 400 – 100 BCE).
Representing the classic Chupícuaro figurine, she is hand-modeled in buff earthenware with large, annular hoop earrings framing a broad triangular face, a tall plaited/braided banded headdress, layered chokers encircling the throat, and large coffee-bean or rhomboid filleted eyes with deep center slits.

Her body exhibits the hallmark Preclassic fertility silhouette: broad, curved hips, an indented waist, protruding modeled breasts, a pierced navel, and arms hanging straight down at the sides with incised digits, terminating in tapered legs with small delineated toes. Unlike the red-and-cream geometric slip-painted "pretty lady" variants, this example belongs to the unpainted buff or monochrome polished tradition, emphasizing modeled relief, textile patterning in the turban, and naturalistic physical contours. In ancient Chupícuaro mortuary practice, these figurines were interred in burial clusters to accompany the deceased, serving as ancestral intercessors and emblems of maternal generative power and agrarian fertility.
