Roman Empire to Early Byzantine, c. 1st–6th Century CE

On the darker left example you can clearly see the classic ancient dot-in-double-circle ("ring-and-dot") drilled pips along its face, The right die has a heavy earthy encrustation and  lead oxidation due to weathering.

Dice made from stone, bone, lead and terra-cotta were ubiquitous across Roman military camps and civilian domestic sites. Hand-carved examples featuring the drilled ring-and-dot pattern represent a common, durable variety of tesserae used for board games like Duodecim Scripta and Tali.

Irregular worn faces; ea approx 8 to 10 mm.
