Persian ca. 12th to 13th Century AD

Small wheel-thrown bowl in white fritware (stonepaste), the conical sides rising from a short foot. Covered in a turquoise glaze, pooling darker in the well; on the exterior the glaze stops in a thick, uneven drip line well above the foot, leaving the lower body and foot unglazed. Turquoise monochrome bowls of this kind were among the most widely made tablewares of Seljuk Iran. Reassembled from fragments with visible break lines; chips and small losses to the rim; fine crazing.
