Peru, Central Coast, Late Intermediate Period, Ca. 1100 to 1550

A plain weave cotton cabesa falso textile painted mask with a stylized face in applique silver and sewn onto the face for nose, eyes, mouth and headdress band.  Large silver cuff sewn below face.

Size 18 inches H. 

Provenance: Formerly in the collection of A. K. H., Krefeld Germany, acquired between 1980 and 2007.
