Northern districts of the State of Vera Cruz, Post Classic, ca. 900 to 1525 AD.

Probably a boundary or shrine marker, carved in the round from a warm buff to grey sandstone, the compact columnar body surmounted by a large rounded head with a simple horizontal band indicating a close‑fitting cap or hair, the broad planar face with low relief features, including a straight incised brow, triangular nose and small pursed mouth, the prominent lateral ears rendered as thick circular bosses; the figure shown frontally with the arms crossed tightly over the chest, hands only summarily indicated, a rectangular slab‑like element at the waist suggesting a simple loincloth or apron above the blocky legs, the back largely flattened with a shallow recessed panel running from cap to hips, typical of Huastec workshop practice for free‑standing markers.

For comparison see Huastec stone figures in the Metropolitan Museum of Art and related published examples of sandstone boundary markers from the Huasteca region.
