Eastern Mediterranean, circa 1st to 3rd century AD.

Free‑blown bottle with a rounded, bulbous body resting on multiple small pinched feet, an elongated cylindrical neck, and a wide, everted rim folded outward and downward. The nubs are created by pinching and pulling the hot glass from the surface of the body. The glassmaker first lightly pinched the softened wall with small tools or fingers, then pulled outward to form short, rounded projections that taper at the tips, leaving shallow dimples at their bases where the glass was drawn away from the vessel wall.

The surface shows exceptional iridescent patination in shimmering silver, gold, blue, and green tones from long burial, with earthen accretions in places. Intact, with minor encrustation and weathering as expected.

Height 4 in (10.2 cm).

Provenance: Private Indiana collection, acquired prior to 1970.

All pieces are unconditionally guaranteed authentic and as described in perpetuity and have been legally acquired and imported in full accordance with U.S. and applicable foreign regulations regarding the movement and sale of antiquities.
